Texture Scanning captures 2D images of the model surface and precisely overlays these on the 3D model, enhancing visualization of surface details and allowing technicians to include hand-drawn design guidance markings in the digital design.

Implant bridge and bar accuracy
3D scanning in connection with designing implant bridges and bars requires very high accuracy that few scanners can deliver. Labs all over the world are using 3Shape’s D800/D810 scanners to produce implant bars and bridges of extraordinary quality. The 5.0 Megapixel cameras, in combination with high quality scan abutments, enable accurate 3D data capture of both implant positions and implant orientations to ensure a perfect tension-free fit.

Inlay, Onlay & Veneers
The 3Shape Dental System™ fully supports the design of inlays, onlays and veneers, including automatic anatomy morphing. With these new important indications, labs can increase return on investment of their CAD/CAM system.

DentalDesigner™ makes even the most complex designs straightforward with its automated, intuitive design process. Technicians can design single inlays, onlays, veneers and inlay bridges quickly and more accurately than possible with manual design methods. During each phase of the design process, DentalDesigner™ calculates and intelligently suggests appropriate designs and selections, be it insertion direction, margin line, removal of undercuts, anatomical shape or contact antagonist to neighboring teeth.

Once the technician has selected the appropriate tooth anatomy from the extensive built-in library, the program starts the automated integration and approximation. To create an optimal anatomical shape of the inlay, onlay or veneer, the shape is automatically morphed to match the original anatomy of the treated tooth, the proximal and antagonist surfaces. Yet, all of this automation doesn't mean that designs are inflexible. Technicians can also modify suggested anatomy designs using the state-ofthe-art sculpt toolkit.

3Shape's new generation of AbutmentDesigner™ offers extensive new functionality for faster and better customized abutment design, scan of wax-up abutments and wax-up implant bridges for copy milling and integrated design of abutments, copings/frameworks and crowns. Finally, the number of supported implants systems are increasing rapidly.

Implants are estimated to be one of the fastest growing areas in dentistry and maintaining high profitability. The newest generation of AbutmentDesigner™ enables labs to make the most of these opportunities. Creating customized abutments, implant bridges and bars by AbutmentDesigner™ does not just increase productivity by eliminating the time spent on waxing and casting, but it also increases accuracy and esthetic results - increasing profitability and dentist satisfaction.

Currently, AbutmentDesigner™ supports a large number of different implant systems covering all major players. The actual implant system libraries used in AbutmentDesigner™ are offered by different suppliers including both original implant manufactures and third party manufactures. The actual materials offered depend on the selected supplier, but AbutmentDesigner™ can design single material abutments, bridges and bars or apply pre-manufactured CAD/CAM abutments to be cemented together with a modeled customized piece.

 

 

STRAUMANN® CARES® SCAN CS2

 

The new Straumann® CARES® Scan CS2 scanner is an integral part of Straumann® CARES® Digital Solutions and offers the benefits you need for your dental business – from CAD to CAM.

The Straumann® CARES® Scan CS2 has the ability to scan solid master models, section cuts and antagonist models. Using advanced 3D laser technology for accuracy and speed, it reduces scanning times to just 30 seconds for single dies, and 3 minutes for master models. The scanner also has new ‘morphing’ capability, which automatically designs a fully restored tooth with inlays, onlays, veneers or partial crowns despite the fact that the original morphology of the tooth is missing.

Straumann® implant-borne restorations used in conjunction with Straumann® implants are designed to achieve the best possible performance in the implant-abutment connection and thus in the entire restoration. Straumann® screw-retained abutments and Straumann implants are engineered to be used together to ensure a harmony of design (shapes and features), tolerances, surface qualities and materials.

Implant abutments create the sensitive transition from the osseointegrated implant through the peri-implant soft tissue to the prosthetic restoration superstructure.

The inEos Blue scanner sets new standards for dental laboratory digitization, thanks to its unique Bluecam technology, upgraded scan software and new user-friendly features. The inEos Blue delivers added flexibility for any budget, as it can be used either as a stand-alone module linked to infiniDent (Sirona’s external production facility), or as a key component of your in-house CAD/CAM system.


Maximum control and flexibility.
inEos Blue gives you complete control over the entire scanning process, so you are not tied to any predetermined routines. Via the 3D image catalog, you can tell at a glance which areas of the model have been fully captured, and those that have not. You are free to define the particular areas of the model you want to scan, so you can capitalize on your specialized expertise and know-how.


Speed and efficiency.
With its quick scan time and autocapture function, the inEos Blue provides you with a clear time advantage, even with difficult preparations. The inEos Blue package consists of the scanner, a high-performance PC, plus the inLab 3D scanning and design software. This combination is the perfect entry to sophisticated CAD/CAM technology in your lab.


NEW: buccal registration.
The inEos Blue takes full advantage of the latest version of the inLab 3D software with buccal registration feature. It is now possible to make a buccal registration to articulate the upper and lower jaws with a single scan. This is a must for the precise definition of occlusal contacts and optimum restoration design, eliminating the need for a bite registration.


NEW: STL-ready.

Proven and reliable scanning technology

Dental Wings scanners are non-contact, optical 3D scanning devices. Each combines proven laser triangulation technology with three or five axes of freedom, depending on the application. The Dental Wings 3D scanners are designed and built to the highest manufacturing standards with robust components machined to strict mechanical tolerances that are subject to rigorous inspection standards. These high levels of engineering are some of the reasons the thousands of systems delivered by Dental Wings have proved remarkably reliable over time.

Accurate and repeatable

Prior to shipment, each Dental Wings scanner is subjected to stringent quality control. Each scanner undergoes a complete cycle of testing, which includes full metrological analysis performed on actual dental cases and ensures that all Dental Wings scanners are consistently capable of digitizing a preparation within 15 µm of accuracy.

Plug and play installation and ease of use

The Dental Wings scanners are designed to be “plug and play” systems. Their powerful embedded computer and pre­installed DWOS modules allow users to start scanning in less than 30 minutes following delivery. Moreover, the platform’s user-friendly and ergonomic interface, coupled with advanced scanning strategies, has made the scanners intuitive and easy to operate. The standard output format is the universally recognized STL file format. However, through cooperative partner development, proprietary partner formats are also made available to the DWOS user community.

All Dental Wings applications are seamlessly integrated into the DWOS technology platform, providing users with direct access to all software application modules. The “all-in-one” new generation scanner

Dental Wings’s newest scanner can be thought of as an “all-in-one” dental scanner. The system scans both plaster positive models and negative impressions. The 7Series user is typically a medium to large laboratory, where high volume throughput is required and technological versatility is a must.

State-of-the-art technology solution

The 7Series represents Dental Wings’s cumulative engineering expertise coupled with the latest high-end technology components. The scanner’s optical measuring head is composed of two high-speed cameras and one video-assisted camera which facilitates the speed of scan previews. Optimum accuracy and versatility are achieved by reducing the triangulation angles formed between the laser and the cameras. Superior resolution is obtained by reducing the field of view of high performance, last generation CMOS cameras. The scanner has five axes of freedom which provides superior accessibility within scanning volumes. What drives these mechanisms is a state-of-the-art embedded computer powered by Windows 7 64 bits.

The new fully automatic scan and design multi-die application produces 30 final coping designs in  about 15 minutes. Moreover, once the platform is loaded, the process is completely automated. When done with the 30 designs, end users simply review the final designs as part of their normal quality control procedures and make any desired modifications required by a doctor’s prescription. Full integration to 3D scanners

DWOS design modules are fully integrated into the Dental Wings 3D scanners. These powerful combinations deliver the highest throughput productivity over any other existing solution on the market. By allowing the parallel scan, auto-margin, auto-insertion axis detection and auto-design generation, the Dental Wings 3D systems are in a production class of their own.

Open software platform

DWOS is an open architecture platform providing users freedom to use other scanning technologies to perform their designs. To simplify use of data generated from other non-Dental Wings technologies, an “import 3rd party” feature exists to provide users an easy method of populating a Dental Wings session with external data. Intra-oral scans generated by LavaTM COS (3M ESPE) and iTero (Cadent) can be directly imported in DWOS for prosthesis designs.

Dental Wings is creating an interface between DWOSTTMand Straumann® coDiagnostiXTM, one of the leading pre-operative planning tools. This integrated solution enables implantologists, GPs and labs to collaborate within one common software platform during the entire tooth-to-root workflow.

The first completely open solution:

  • The pre-operative implant planning software can import data (Dicom format) from any existing or new CBCT scanner.
  • The pre-operative planning software allows placing implants from many leading implant suppliers. This combination is unlike some other pre-operative planning tools that can only be used to plan implants from one supplier, forcing the dental professional to use different software tools to plan implants from different suppliers.
  • The drill guides can be produced locally using a mechanical device (GonyXTM). Other pre-operative planning systems lock the user into mandatory centralized drill guide manufacturing. Using this solution, the added value remains within the local dental team.

Straumann® coDiagnostiXTM and DWOSTM have significant track records and enjoy a large installed base within the dental industry. Their integrated solution allows for “backward planning”; i.e. taking the prosthetic design as the starting point for implant planning and placement. The new interface between Straumann® coDiagnostiXTM and DWOSTMenables the best fit of prosthetic design with CBCT data. This combined information serves as input for implant planning and allows the pre positioning of implants by taking into account the prosthetic design.

 

Virtual Articulator

The Virtual Articulator module significantly reduces the time required for chairside occlusion adjustments while enhancing the overall in-mouth seating of dental prostheses. The Virtual Articulator simulation improves the dental prostheses design by adding kinematic analysis to the static CAD design process. The software simulates the complex mandibular movements of the human jaw by breaking them down into a series of pre-planned excursive movements such as Protrusion, Retrusion, Laterotrusion, and Immediate Side Shift. A powerful collision detection algorithm is then applied to dynamically compute occlusal contact regions.

For optimal results, Dental Wings has developed the following workflow within the DWOS solution:

  1. The models are mounted and adjusted upon the articulator and then transferred to the Dental Wings scanner (3Series, 5Series or 7Series) for digitizing and building the virtual clinical case. Specially designed fixtures enable the proper transfer of the occlusal registration from the articulator to the scanner and vice versa. Dental Wings has established a partnership with SAM GmbH, which produces the articulator plate that is used with the plaster models that are compatible with Dental Wings scanners.
  2. Dental prostheses are statically modelled using the DWOS Crown & Bridge module.
  3. Following the simulation of virtual articulation applied to the clinical case, the software highlights the occlusion contact zones and automatically proposes the required prostheses design modifications.

The DWOS Crown & Bridge module is the foundation of prosthesis design and manages all aspects of the creation of a digital crown.

DWOS meets labs’ needs for flexibility by allowing them to manage the unexpected. Moreover, DWOS enables lab technicians to maintain their creativity and freedom because it does not impose on them a step-by-step design approach.

  • Import and export STL files across applications: i) re-use previous designs as wax-ups or antagonist, ii) import additional patient information such as facial scans or jaw bone CBCT scans.
  • Change indication during design session at any time without restarting the full process from the beginning. Examples include change from a simple coping to full crown, split a bridge into three because of diverging preparations or remove a pontic as a result of lack of space.
